Junior Lawyers Division
The Junior Lawyers Division has recently been resurrected in Swansea, providing support and a networking group for young lawyers in the area. This includes law students, trainee solicitors and newly qualified solicitors of up to 5 years post qualification experience.
The group has been established with the support of The Law Society – Wales Office and local firms. It will provide a platform for young solicitors to become involved in the issues that affect the profession in their area, as well as an opportunity to meet lawyers with whom they might not otherwise have contact.
Swansea JLD is fortunate enough to have had support from the larger firms of solicitors who operate within the city. The negotiation skills of a few members have resulted in an agreement with the national leisure and entertainment firm who run many of the city’s nightclubs. Coupled with the backing of Swansea Law Society, the potential for Swansea JLD to represent their members in a social and professional capacity is immense.
We have a few events lined up for 2010, such as the Annual Shelter Quiz in March, Annual Cocktail Party in April, regular socials on the last Friday of every month, CPD lectures aimed at young lawyers… And more!
Forthcoming Events
- Quiz in aid of Shelter, 18th March 2010 in Yates’ Wine Lodge on junction of Wind Street/Caer Street at 6pm. Entry fee of £2 per person and maximum of four persons per team 1st prize – bottle of wine for each member of the team. Raffle prizes include vouchers from Nando’s, LC2, merchandise from Up & Running and many more!
