Polite Notice

Members are reminded in the interests of client care, that original Wills which they hold for recently deceased clients should be released to the Executors on production of satisfactory identification and evidence of death.

Appropriate enquiries should be made of the executors to ascertain if Probate is to be obtained.

The executors should be advised that the original Will needs to be carefully looked after until Probate has been applied for and should not in any circumstances be handed over to a Bank who has requested the original Will should be produced to them as this is not necessary to register the death. This should help safeguard the executors from the Bank offering Probate services to them.
